Paul Suchan, conductor
with
Eileen Laverty, singer-songwriter
Kim de Laforest, fiddler

We’re off to Dublin just in time to celebrate Irish culture. We’re joined by two incredible Saskatoon women who will bring us a touch of the isle. Eileen Laverty has earned recognition as one of Saskatchewan’s most significant singer-songwriters, and an SSO favourite in her previous performances – she brings a touch of Ireland as well as her own songs to this program.

Kim de Laforest is a multi-talented violinist (who often plays in the SSO!) who splits her time between performing and teaching fiddle all over Canada. She brings her joyous sound to this wonderful pre-St Patrick’s Day concert.

Composer Paul Suchan leads the SSO through this night of traditional Irish music including favourites Molly Malone, the Cliffs of Moher, and Danny Boy!

The SSO is reimagining the possibilities for what concerts we can bring to the stage for our 90th season and still address the risks and protocols required to ensure safety for musicians and audiences during the pandemic.

We’re trying something completely different this year – we’re taking a musical trip around the world, so each and every concert is a musical trip. To ensure that we can keep adapting to the Saskatchewan Public Health requirements, we’re planning trips a month or two at a time. So we’ll be constantly revealing concerts that are coming up!

Each concert will be available for live stream and video on demand through our new Digital Concert Stream.

While we’re on our musical trips there’ll be all sorts of special travel perks and virtual experiences through our InTune Blog!
