Jonathan Craig Penner

[box]Cellist Jonathan Craig Penner won the 33rd Saskatchewan Music Festival  Shurniak Concerto Competition in 2019 with his performance of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33. Part of his first prize winnings was the opportunity to be a featured soloist with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra.

Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Jonathan has been playing cello since age 10. He is currently attending the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and pursuing a performance degree in cello. His teacher at McGill is Brian Manker.

Jonathan’s performance was initially delayed due to the pandemic so we are delighted that we were able to reschedule his SSO debut! [/box]
