SSO’s Live Streaming for Season 91

The launch of the SSO’s live streaming changed us forever – with more than 130,000 people around the world having watched our performances, we are thrilled to announce the planned live streams for our 91st Season!

September 25th – Opening Night Celebration
The SSO is joined by Maestro Leslie Dala to perform the heart-stopping and passionate music from Bizet’s Carmen alongside music by Leonard Bernstein, Rossini, and Massanet. Renowned soprano Danika Lorèn returns home to guest star in this concert filled with absolute joy!

October 9th – The [Uncertain] Four Seasons
Orchestras around the world join forces this October to perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons like you’ve never heard them before. The [Uncertain] Four Seasons is an algorithmic re-composition of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’. Developed by composers, musicians, climate and computer scientists using geospatial climate predictions for 2050. The SSO is joined by Maestra Genevieve Leclair, while violinist Kerry DuWors returns home for this special event.

November 6th – Beethoven 5
Iconic. Epic. Unforgettable. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony has held the world in rapture for two centuries, and it never fails to leave the audience wanting more! The SSO is joined by rising star conductor Nicolas Ellis for this memorable performance.

November 20th – Chevalier’s Paris
Joseph Bolonge, Chevalier de Saint-Georges was a towering figure in Paris. A champion fencer, the Queen’s accompanist, a conductor, a virtuoso, a composer, and an impresario. Maestro Adam Johnson leads the SSO in music by Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Devienne, and Haydn.

December 4th – Holiday Pops!*
Haul out the holly, we’re not going to let the spirit fall! The SSO’s annual holiday spectacular is back and we’re excited to share the music of many cultures and traditions including Christmas Festival, Sleigh Ride, and more!

December 17th – A Winter’s Journey*
The SSO’s Chamber Ensemble brings you a unique musical experience – as the days get shorter, we search for seasonal music that brings new light.
*both Holiday concerts will be available to view until January 2nd

January 15th – Brahms Serenade

The SSO Chamber Ensemble join forces in the warmth of Brahms’ Serenade No 1 and more!

February 26th – Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake
Maestra Judith Yan returns to the SSO podium to dive into Tchaikovsky’s romantic Swan Lake. The evening features Saskatchewan’s own Jonathan Craig Penner, cellist, in Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations!

March 12th – Brahms Requiem
Music Director Eric Paetkau and the SSO are joined by the Greystone Singers and Aurora Voce to perform Brahms Requiem.

April 10th – Special Event

April 23rd – Mozart with Jane Coop and Tania Miller
Maestra Tania Miller returns home and is joined by renowned pianist Jane Coop for a performance showcasing Mozart’s Piano Concerto 24!

May 7th – Mahler 4
Music Director Eric Paetkau helms the SSO through one of the most stunning pieces of music ever written. Mahler’s enigmatic 4th Symphony brings us the composer’s stunning interpretation of child’s glimpse of heaven – a perfect way to end the season!
