Katrina Dunkle is excited to be joining the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra as Third Horn. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, California, Katie has performed across Canada with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic, and Royal Canadian Air Force Band, among others.
Katie completed an Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music on a full scholarship, following a Bachelor of Music in Performance at McGill University, also on scholarship. She was one of the winners of the 2020 McGill Concerto Competition, performing Heinrich Hübler’s Concerto for Four Horns with orchestra. At GGS, she served as Principal Horn on the 2024 Tour to Carnegie Hall. Her primary teachers include Gabriel Radford, Nadia Côté, Catherine Turner, and Alicia Telford.
Katie has spent summers at festivals including the National Academy Orchestra of the Brott Music Festival, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Sarasota Music Festival, Orchestre de la francophonie, Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, and Eastern Music Festival. Additionally, she teaches a private studio of horn students and pursues her love of chamber music as founder of The Boulevard Brass Collective, a brass ensemble that performs at special events.
