The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra was founded over 90 years ago, and has become a symbol of ingenuity, perseverance, excellence and cultural and musical expression. Long seen as a home for community members to gather and enjoy artistic expression, it has also become a leader in exploring and celebrating our collective prairie voice.
The SSO has become much more to so many: the SSO’s musical offerings helped the music lovers in Saskatchewan, across Canada and across the world connect and enjoy music together while staying safely apart.
As you consider leaving a planned gift to the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, please know that you are bringing the prairie voice to future generations, ensuring that people in Saskatchewan and further afield have the opportunity to learn from the best, to share their musical expressions, and to create a legacy of musical excellence in Saskatchewan.
The decision to create a planned gift is a deeply personal decision and reflects your own life circumstances and financial needs. We know that everyone has different priorities, and we respect your gift planning decisions.
As you begin working on your philanthropic strategy and begin to make plan your gifts, you and your financial advisor may realize there is room to support your loved ones and your deeply important organizations in a tax advantageous way.
The creation of the Opus Initiative is our commitment to you: we promise to celebrate your commitment in a way that is most fitting for you and work with you to ensure your vision for our future is created.
The importance of planned gifts:
Planned gifts are amazing! They rock and we are so honoured to mean that much to our donors!
Supporters of the Opus Initiative ensure the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra’s voice carries on into the future. When you give to the Opus Fund for Today or the Opus Fund for Tomorrow, you are supporting things like:
- Hiring talented musicians
- Musical education
- Talented guest musicians
- Special opportunities to bring the Prairie Voice to the world
About gifts we’ve received:
Bob Steane made a final legacy gift to the Saskatoon community in 2019, trusting Saskatoon Community Foundation and two hospital foundations to bring his gift to life.
A lifelong supporter of the arts, his desire was to give significant support to several community arts organizations, enabling them to flourish artistically and grow their resources and impact. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra was among the organizations most fortunate to receive his support.
Thanks to Bob’s generosity, the SSO was able to purchase the audio recording equipment that made holding virtual concerts a reality. This funding allowed the SSO to bring together the community of music lovers across Saskatchewan, across Canada, and across the world, reaching far-flung locations like Australia.
We are delighted to be able to celebrate Bob’s legacy, to continue sharing the SSO’s musical offerings virtually, and to join our community of music lovers together, no matter their location.
