Before her concert date arrives on April 11, 2026, Sonia Reid met with the SSO’s Tom Brown to create a gin cocktail using our After Dark gin (partnered with Black Fox & Farm Distillery)!
If you haven’t already seen the content, check out our Instagram page! Tom taught Sonia how to make an Earl Grey Sonic.

Tom Brown picked Sonia’s brain and we gained some great insight into what we can expect from this show where she takes centre stage! Here is what we learned:
Q: How did this concert come to be?
A: I was invited to be a part of YXE Divas [in April 2024 & December 2025], and then my memory is that Mark and I had a conversation one day and it was around the possibility of developing a show, and I mean, here we are!
Q: What can the audience expect from this concert?
A: Some really soulful moments, romantic moments, hand-clapping moments.
Q: Would you say this concert is like other symphony concerts?
A: I would actually say that it’s not. I get the opportunity to share parts of me, but we’ve taken elements of high energy, and also the most soulful arrangements of other songs that I still like. I love singing them, right, and they make my heart full.
Q: How did you pick the music for this concert?
A: In some cases, it’s my favourite songs, the songs that feel good in my body to be honest, and then added in some songs that are just characteristic of me. One of them is also the title track on a gospel album that I did a few years back. So yeah, all elements of who I am as a person coming together in one show.
Q: Do you have an unexpected go-to karaoke song?
A: I don’t because typically when I’m being a little lazy, it would just be At Last by Etta James because I know it cold. I will also admit that I didn’t really get into karaoke at all until I moved to Saskatchewan. It just wasn’t in my world, so I experienced karaoke for the first time since I’ve been living out here.
They then finished off this Q & A segment with their very own must-see karaoke performance of ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’, which is also available to watch on Instagram:
