Midwinter Mozart Festival

 

The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Saskatoon Opera, and the University of Saskatchewan Department of Music are celebrating the music of the master!

The SSO’s Midwinter Mozart Festival features concerts, discussion panels, lectures, a screening of an iconic movie, and even birthday cake!

This season marks the 225th anniversary of the death of Mozart.  Wolfgang Amadeus has made a remarkable impact on the history of the world – more than musician, Mozart’s impact it seems seeps into culture all around the globe.  Whether you’re fascinated by his story or in love with his music, there is much to learn, much to see, and much to hear at this week!

Sunday, January 22nd – Sunday Chamber – The Music of Mozart

The SSO Chamber Players perform two of Mozart’s great works, the Clarinet Quintet and Horn Quintet, in the beautiful Battlefords Room.

Tuesday, January 24th – Music Talk at McNally – The Genius of Mozart
7pm, McNally Robinson Booksellers
A panel discussion featuring Saskatoon Opera Artistic Director Barbara Montalbetti, pianist, singer, and educator Lynn Ewing, and the SSO’s Eric Paetkau.  The panel will explore what makes Mozart’s music so enduring to this day, and discuss the learning and work that must go in to his music.
