There is always something remarkably special about showcasing talent that grew up right here in Saskatoon. In At the Ballet, the SSO is thrilled to showcase ballet artist and Saskatoon’s very own, Keaton Leier.
Leier was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and Houston Ballet II. He danced with Atlanta Ballet for five seasons before joining The National Ballet of Canada in 2022. On top of performing in this concert, the program features a new work choreographed by Leier, with an original composition by Paul Leonard-Morgan.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary season, The National Ballet of Canada is ‘Sharing the Stage’ as part of this exciting performance, showcasing the company’s diverse repertoire and some of its renowned dancers.
This very special evening, many years in the making, features selections from great works in the ballet canon, both traditional and modern. Maestro Judith Yan, a world-renowned ballet conductor and long-time SSO collaborator, takes the podium with the SSO for this spectacular performance.
In collaboration with the Artists Climate Collective, Keaton is pushing to have the program and tour running as sustainably as possible. Keaton is co-founder and creative director of Artists Climate Collective, and founded the National Ballet of Canada Green Team, creating initiatives to further the company’s sustainable practices.
