A Saskatoon Opera Event

The SSO is thrilled to take our partnership with Saskatoon Opera to new heights. For the first time ever, the SSO is officially the orchestra for Saskatoon Opera, and we couldn’t be more excited to be in “the pit” for Bizet’s Carmen!

Saskatoon Opera presents Georges Bizet’s beloved masterpiece Carmen, the story of the sensual Carmen and her ardent young admirer, Don Jose. Carmen is not one to be tied down to one man, and values above all else her freedom. She soon leaves Don Jose to be with the toreador Escamillo. Don Jose confronts her in one of the most gripping finales in operatic history. Set in Spain in the 2000s, Saskatoon Opera’s production provides a modern look at Carmen.
