Shannon Lee, violin
with conductor Judith Yan
Seeing a debut is also thrilling – and on this night, we give you two great debuts!
Canadian violinist Shannon Lee makes her SSO debut playing the passionate and sensuous Violin Concerto by Sibelius. The work demands an artist of the highest calibre, so as Lee comes off a number of impressive competition successes she is the perfect artist to bring this beautiful work back to our stage.
Canadian conductor Judith Yan has garnered herself a reputation of being one of the finest conductors in Canada, and now she comes to the SSO to lead the orchestra through Tchaikovsky’s lush and romantic scores of his classic ballets Sleeping Beauty and the stunning Swan Lake.
The evening opens with Carmen Braden’s powerful Blood Echo.
