Alexa Haynes-Pilon returns home to Saskatoon with a new baroque concert experience that she has designed just for this occasion. Baroque composers were captivated by the four elements—water, fire, air, and earth—and they found great curiosity in depicting the elements through musical imagery, using specific instrumentation and textures to evoke natural forces.
Alexa will lead and solo with the SSO in the music of Jean-Frey Rebel’s Les Élémens, selections from both Handel’s and Telemann’s Water Music, and concertos by Caldara, Durante, and Vivaldi.
While her career takes her around the globe performing and curating as a baroque specialist, Alexa’s roots in Saskatoon continue to call her home. Her 2023 debut with the SSO was a sold-out sensational performance that instantly meant we needed to bring her back again!
