Emma Gillingham is a soprano from Saskatoon, currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Saskatchewan, where she studies with Janice Paterson. Active in the Saskatoon music community for over a decade, Emma has garnered recognition for her performances in classical voice and speech arts, earning top awards at the Provincial and Canada West Music Festivals. She made her Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra debut in 2020 as a soloist in Rebecca Dale’s Materna Requiem and has also performed with Persephone Theatre, as Jane Banks in Mary Poppins in 2016. In 2023 Emma had the opportunity to travel to Greve, Italy for a 3 week opera program where she got to work with and learn from Giovanni Reggioli, Timothy LeFebre, Patrick O’Donnel, Delores Ziegler and many more wonderful musicians. Emma is a member of the University of Saskatchewan Greystone Singers and the Music as Theatre ensemble, currently preparing for the university opera production of A Northern Lights Dream by Canadian composer Michael Rose. Beyond performing, Emma is passionate about music education, teaching voice and piano to young students and conducting a youth choir in rural Saskatchewan. She is thrilled to be joining the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra for Handel’s Dixit Dominus and is honored to be part of this vibrant musical community.
