Rebecca Klassen-Wiebe is a pianist and répétiteur known for her inspired and intuitive approach to collaborative work, interpretation, and performance.
As an artist-in-residence graduate from Opéra de Montréal, Rebecca has worked extensively within the core operatic repertoire, serving as a répétiteur and coach for various main stage productions as well as collaborations with organizations such as the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Orchestre de l’Agora, the Orchestre symphonique de Drummondville, Musique 3 Femmes, the Arion Baroque Orchestra, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, and the Orchestre classique de Montréal, among others. Recent engagements include a touring production of Poulenc’s La Voix humaine, as well as official assistant pianist for Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, the world premiere of Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard’s La Reine-garçon, and Verdi’s La traviata.
Rebecca maintains an active coaching studio where her interest in languages and her desire to approach people with openness and compassion are invaluable assets.
An active community member, Rebecca has collaborated with various Canadian community arts organizations and non-profits, including La Gang à Rambrou, Co-Opéra, Espace Transition, La Voix harmonisée (Opéra de Montréal), Camp musical Père Lindsay, Fondation LRDG, and Winnipeg Music Festival. Passionate about working with youth, she is also active in the choral and education scenes. She has also been a performing artist on the outreach series Parlons Opéra with Opéra de Montréal, designed to introduce new audiences to classical music in Montreal and beyond.
Rebecca is a grant recipient from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), examining the absence of stories of motherhood within English art songs. She is an alumnus of the McGill University Schulich School of Music and Canadian Mennonite University, and received additional training from the Toronto Summer Music Academy, Opera Kelowna, the CoOPERAtive Program, Opera NUOVA, and the Lachine International Vocal Academy.
Originally from Winnipeg, Rebecca now lives in Montreal, Quebec.
