Sanjana Brijlall

Vocalist

Sanjana Brijlall is a 21-year-old mezzo-soprano from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She is entering her fourth year as a vocal performance honours student at the University of Saskatchewan under the tutelage of Janice Paterson. Sanjana enjoys singing in various styles, including classical, jazz, and musical theatre. She has also been studying Kathak, classical Indian dance, since she was five years old. This past January, Sanjana played Mrs. Nolan in the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra’s production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium. She has participated in district and provincial music festivals in Saskatchewan and received the Tudor Bowl.  Sanjana is working towards obtaining a Jazz Certificate at the University of Saskatchewan. She is a member of the University of Saskatchewan Greystone Singers, and the Usask Music (as) Theatre and Jazz Ensembles. She has also performed as a featured soloist alongside the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra in 2023. Last summer, Sanjana performed in the Saskatoon Opera Summer Proms Concert Series and travelled to the University of North Texas to attend their Summer Vocal Jazz workshop. This summer she is performing at the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and the  Broadway Theatre as a featured soloist with Keegan Issac’s Itsy Bitsy Big Band.
